How does Botox Cosmetic work?
BOTOX® Cosmetic targets one of the underlying causes of frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines — the repeated muscle contractions from frowning, squinting, smiling, and raising the eyebrows over the years. Your specialist will inject these muscles with BOTOX® Cosmetic to temporarily reduce muscle activity. You will begin to notice a visible smoothing of the frown lines between your brows, your crow’s feet lines, and your forehead lines.
Can Botox treat excessive underarm sweating?
BOTOX® Cosmetic is injected into the skin to treat severe underarm sweating symptoms (hyperhidrosis) when topical products used on the skin do not work well enough.
BOTOX® temporarily blocks the chemical signals from the nerves that stimulate the sweat glands. When the sweat glands don’t receive chemical signals, severe underarm sweating is reduced. Sweat will continue to be produced elsewhere.
BOTOX® is proven to work. A clinical study found that:
- 57 out of 104 patients treated with BOTOX® (55%) achieved an effective response, compared with only 6 out of 108 not treated with BOTOX® (6%).
- 84 out of 104 patients treated with BOTOX® (81%) achieved a greater than 50% reduction in sweating, compared to only 44 out of 108 patients not treated with BOTOX® (41%) Individual results may vary.
Can Botox treat TMJ pain or Migraines?
Yes, BOTOX® Cosmetic can be used to treat issues relating to both TMJ pain and Chronic Migraines. BOTOX® injections are administered in proven sites around your head, neck, and jaw muscles—where Chronic Migraine or TMJ pain may affect you—to prevent headaches, pain, and migraines before they even start.
A typical treatment plan for Migraine relief may start with 2 treatments, 12 weeks apart (and you may feel results as soon as 4 weeks). Additional treatments may then continue with a follow-up every 12 weeks thereafter —that’s just 4 times a year (or as recommended by your doctor).
How long is the recovery time after treatment?
Treatment requires minimal downtime. So you can return to your daily routine immediately after you leave your specialist’s office.
Treatment with BOTOX® Cosmetic is customized to your goals and needs. When you meet with your specialist, he or she will determine the appropriate treatment for any areas you wish to address, including moderate to severe frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines. Remember, only BOTOX® Cosmetic is approved to treat all three of these areas.
For the crow’s feet area, your specialist will inject 3 areas of the muscle that frames the side of the eye. This will be repeated on the muscle that frames the other eye.
For the frown lines area, your specialist will administer 5 injections into the muscles between your brows and your forehead.
For the forehead lines area, your specialist will administer 5 injections into a muscle in your forehead.
How Do the Results of Botox Differ From Other Treatments?
Botox is an increasingly popular cosmetic treatment that can help people reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Unlike other treatments, Botox involves the injection of a purified botulinum toxin into muscle tissue. The botulinum toxin works by paralyzing muscles, which reduces their contractile ability and helps to relax them. This helps to smooth out wrinkles that form due to facial movements like smiling or frowning, giving skin a more youthful appearance.
Botox results are typically long-lasting, with effects lasting up to four months at a time. Compared to other treatments like fillers or chemical peels, Botox is generally much less invasive, as it only requires injections of a tiny amount of liquid into muscle tissue. Furthermore, it also has fewer side effects and requires zero recovery time – within days of treatment one can already see noticeable results!
Who are qualified to get Botox?
In order to be a suitable candidate for Botox injections, individuals must meet certain criteria such as being between 18 to 65 years old, having visible signs of aging on the face or neck, and being in good general health. While anyone meeting these requirements is eligible for treatment, it is always best to consult with a qualified medical specialist before going ahead. At Evolution Med Spa, we ensure that you understand any potential risks involved and get the most out of your Botox experience.
Who should NOT get Botox?
Botox is not suitable for everyone, and some individuals should avoid this treatment altogether. People who are pregnant or breastfeeding should not undergo Botox injections, as the effects of the toxin on an unborn baby or infant are currently unknown. In addition, patients with a history of neuromuscular disorders such as Myasthenia Gravis, Lambert-Eaton syndrome, ALS, or other diseases that affect the nervous system should not receive Botox treatments. Those who have had facial surgery recently may also be advised to steer clear of this type of cosmetic treatment. It is important to discuss any potential risks and health concerns with a qualified doctor before undergoing any kind of aesthetic procedure.
How to Prepare for a Botox Treatment
Preparing for a Botox treatment is an important step in ensuring that you get the most out of your experience. Start by speaking with a qualified medical professional to confirm that you are suitable for the treatment and understand any potential risks involved. You should also take some time to research the procedure and make sure you have realistic expectations of its effects. Additionally, it is essential to follow all pre-treatment instructions provided by your aesthetician in order to maximize results and minimize potential side effects. Lastly, make sure to bring along any relevant medical records or previous photos to help your providers plan the best course of action for you.
Understanding How Long Botox Results Last
Botox results typically last between 3 and 4 months, although this duration may vary depending on the individual’s body chemistry. If a patient desires to maintain their results, they should plan for follow-up treatments every three to four months. It is important to note that with consecutive treatments, the effects of Botox can become more pronounced and long-lasting over time.
Additionally, some individuals may find that the results from Botox injections tend to last longer than expected due to the production of natural muscle relaxers in their bodies. Patients should be sure to discuss any questions or concerns about Botox durations with their doctor before beginning treatment.
