Age Spot Removal
Age spots are caused by overactive pigment cells caused by prolonged sun exposure. Age spots appear when melanin is produced in high concentrations. UV rays cause the acceleration of melanin production which causes age spots. Thankfully, there are many methods that have proven to be very effective at removing age spots and other hyperpigmentation caused by clumping of melanin.
- Chemical Peels: Medium depth chemical peels are used to resurface skin. Peels will lift pigmentation to the surface which is then slughed away by peeling and flaking. Several treatments may be required to remove age spots completely. Results will be seen immediately following healing after your treatment.
- IPL (Laser Therapy): IPL and laser treatments remove age spots by destroying melanin-producing cells without damaging the skin’s surface. You may need a few treatments in order to see results. Results will be seen several weeks or months after your treatment.
- Microdermabrasion: Microdermabrasion uses exfoliation and suction to rub or plane away outer layers of skin. This is a less aggressive procedure which will give a smoother appearance to skin, but may require multiple sessions and time to see results for age spot removal.
Each of these treatments are effective at removing age spots, and addressing other skin issues such as scarring, fine lines, acne, and dull complexion. A consultation with one of our esthetician’s is the best way to determine the most effective treatment plan for removing your age spots and addressing other skin conditions. Before and After
Aging / Age Spots
Aging can be accompanied by a host of skin changes, including age spots. Age spots, also known as liver spots or solar lentigines, can appear on hands and face as the skin is exposed to ultraviolet radiation. They are typically flat, oval-shaped and range in color from light brown to black. These age spots often make people self-conscious about their appearance and can cause them to feel frustrated with the natural aging process. Evolution Med Spa in Commack, New York can help.
